Three Artists - Three Exhibitions - One Frame

When visiting our workshop, all three of these artists were immediately drawn to the warm tones of Sapele and opted for the thinnest profile we offer at 3mm wide.

The timber feels a lot like the Danish teak furniture and the mid century aesthetic of G-plan, so it can work in a lot of contemporary interiors. But it was the warm tone as well as the subtle grain variation that made it so appealing to these three artists.

Sophie Glover

Sophie Glover is showing two pieces - both framed by J.M.Smith Framing - as part of upcoming group show ‘INSIDE/OUTSIDE’ at Soho Revue, London.

The exhibition runs 8th of May - 1st of June.

Jay Harper

Jay has been using J.M.Smith Framing since we first opened our doors back in 2017. We opted for this style of framing as a nod to the frames that mid century artists made by tacking battens to the side of their canvasses. These are a little more refined than those, but the feeling remains.

Jay is showing a body of work at Morgan's upcoming group show "Show No 2"

The exhibition runs 2nd May - 15th June 2024

Cat Knight

Cat Knight's wonderful meditations on light and shape are all responses to her residencies. However, in the ten years I've known Cat, I think she's only been on two! She manages to gather enough inspiration in less that a week to fuel her practice for years to come. The process - like her paintings - is stunningly economic.

Cat is showing the painting above alongside another, equally beautiful, as part of Cavaliero Finn's 20 year celebration in their Stockwell Studio, South London.

The exhibition runs 11 - 18th May 2024
